Real Madrid CF is to play a charity match this evening (Wednesday 18th) against a selection of footballers from the region of Murcia. The game is to be televised, and will be shown on TVE1 from 7pm tonight.
Real Madrid has thrown its support behind the beleaguered city of Lorca and the entire province of Murcia. 'Los Merengues' are set to play against a selection of Murcian players, and will donate the proceeds to the victims of last week's earthquake.
It will be a particularly emotional day for Real Madrid player and Spanish internationalist, Pedro Leon, who returns to his home town to support friends and former neighbors. The midfielder will be accompanied by the entire squad with the exception of Marcelo, Garay, Higuain and Di Maria. "It is a nice gesture. We are all happy to participate to help thoe who need it. Real Madrid does whatever it can, so we are thrilled to take part," commented Cristiano Ronaldo on behalf of the entire team.
Some tickets are reportedly still available. Those who wish to attend can visit the Nueva Condomina Ticket Office 17:00 to try to secure a ticket, or you can watch it from the comfort of your own home or the local boozer!
