Fiona James – Founding Director, Murcia Villas SL

Fiona James co-founded Murcia Villas SL in 2002 together with her husband, Hugh, building the company from the ground up into one of the leading real estate agencies in Murcia. Today, more than two decades later, she is proud to oversee a thriving business with six offices, serving international clients in English, Spanish, and German.

Fiona graduated from Oxford Brookes University with a BSc (Hons) in Biology and Anthropology in 1992, before embarking on a dynamic career in sales, marketing, and public relations. Her professional background spans more than 30 years, ranging from high-level relocation services to corporate account management and regional marketing leadership.

Her early career began in London’s New Bond Street, working for PRIcoa, a major American relocation company. Here, she assisted global corporations such as Glaxo Welcome, Cadbury, Heinz, and Chevron Oil with property services for their employees. She later became an Account Manager, overseeing large-scale relocations for multinational firms.

In 1997, Fiona joined Hambro Countrywide as Area Manager, managing accommodation for Ministry of Defence personnel across the South West and leading a team of eight staff. Shortly after, she transitioned into marketing at Taste of the West, championing West Country food and drink producers and building successful partnerships with retailers including Tesco, Sainsbury’s, and Somerfield.

With the move to Spain in 2002, Fiona turned her skills toward real estate, establishing Murcia Villas. Through her vision, leadership, and dedication, the company expanded via franchising in 2008 and has since become a trusted name for property sales, lettings, and management across the Murcia region.

Outside of work, Fiona is passionate about art, travel, and Spanish culture. She enjoys painting, attending art retreats, and exploring towns and cities across Spain, embracing the lifestyle and traditions of her adopted country.
