Hugh James is the Founding Director of Murcia Villas, S.L. and O.P.M.L. (Franchise) Ltd. With more than 20 years of experience in real estate on the Costa Cálida, Hugh has helped establish Murcia Villas as the leading English, Spanish, and German-speaking property agency in South Eastern Spain.

Professional Background

A graduate of the Royal Agricultural University, Cirencester, where he studied Estate Management, Hugh has always had a strong foundation in land and property. His early career began in sales and marketing, specialising in business-to-business and corporate sales.

He first gained commercial experience in telemarketing with Alamo Rent A Car, before moving into the automotive sector. By 1998, he had become the youngest Sales Manager in the Mercedes-Benz Passenger Car network, specialising in leasing and motor finance. His expertise led him to HBoS, where he represented the bank’s asset finance division in the South West of England.

Moving to Spain and Founding Murcia Villas

In 2002, Hugh relocated to Spain, bringing with him not only his professional skills but also a strong command of the Spanish language. Recognising a growing demand for expert property services among both international buyers and local clients, he founded Murcia Villas.

Over the past two decades, Hugh has built the business into one of the most trusted and established real estate agencies in Murcia, known for its personalised service, multilingual team, and expertise in both resale and new build homes.

Beyond Real Estate

Hugh is also well known in the local community. A keen sportsman, he plays and coaches cricket at La Manga Cricket Club, and enjoys golf with clients — though he jokes he has mastered the art of “letting them win”!
