Record Number of Visitors in 2025
Murcia Hotels Experience Record-Breaking Start to 2025
Hotels in the Region of Murcia have had their best start to the year, welcoming more visitors and overnight stays than ever before. In January and February 2025, a total of 184,658 travellers stayed in the region’s hotels, marking a 7.1% increase compared to the same period in 2024. This growth far surpassed Spain’s national average increase of 1.2%, according to the National Statistics Institute (INE).
Domestic and International Tourism on the Rise
Murcia continues to attract more visitors from across Spain and beyond. The number of domestic travellers reached 144,526, a 6.5% rise from the previous year. Meanwhile, international tourism saw an even greater surge, with 40,132 foreign visitors—an impressive 9.4% increase, well above Spain’s overall international tourism growth of 2.5%.
Murcia’s Tourism Strategy for Growth
Tourism officials credit these figures to Murcia’s evolving reputation as a year-round destination, a core objective of the region’s long-term tourism strategy. Strengthened promotional efforts, enhanced infrastructure, and a focus on cultural and nature-based tourism have all contributed to the region’s rising appeal.
Why More Tourists Are Choosing Murcia
Murcia’s mild winter climate, rich history, and diverse attractions make it an ideal choice for visitors seeking an escape from colder regions. Offering a mix of coastal getaways, rural retreats, and vibrant city experiences, the region caters to a wide variety of travellers. Additionally, improved transport links and competitive hotel prices have made it more convenient than ever for both domestic and international tourists to explore all that Murcia has to offer.
With these remarkable figures, Murcia is solidifying its position as one of Spain’s most attractive and accessible destinations, promising continued growth in the tourism sector throughout the year.
