Our Franchisees
Chris and Jane Whent, Murcia Villas La Torre Franchisees
Previous life
Chris previously worked for Natwest bank for 27 years before making the move to Murcia. Jane worked in payroll so they were both well equipped to recognise a profitable business model. They were both bored with their lifestyle in the UK. Chris was excited to embark on a less stressful lifestyle and Jane was ready to make a clean break.
Chris and Jane’s future
Chris and Jane plan to run their franchise for at least 5 years, building their area into a profitable business that they can later sell on as a thriving business. “This franchise has improved my life immeasurably,” says Chris. “While we are working hard to build the business, I also have time for golf lessons, Spanish lessons and relaxing at the beach.”

Part of their induction into running the franchise includes sampling different restaurants in and around Murcia. “Clients often ask us to recommend a good local restaurant,” says Jane. “We eat out at least twice a week and go to a different restaurant each time to improve our knowledge of the area, plus it is great fun!”
Chris and Jane’s advice…

“It is crucial to choose the right territory for you. Murcia Villas has earmarked several key locations all of which have vast potential. We have found it beneficial to live within our franchise zone resort. Being onsite offers more opportunities for networking and getting to know the area,” says Jane.

“As a banker, I was always assessing clients’ attitudes to risk. When we were considering this franchise, I looked carefully at my own attitude and realised that in order to make a success of this business, I needed to commit to it 100%. For me, this meant making a clean break from the UK, being realistic and looking to build a sustainable business over the long term,” adds Chris.
Jane continues “Be prepared to do the unexpected tasks and be flexible. We try to start each day by looking at what needs to be done and splitting the tasks between us.”
What Hugh says
“Chris and Jane work well as a team,” comments Hugh. “Team work is really important in building the business. Splitting tasks and activities ensures that more progress in made, this is the way that Fiona and I work.”
| Murcia Villas are looking to recruit only a small number of franchisees in 2008 so that the key resorts can be serviced in line with the extensive opportunities that have been identified. Contact Hugh for more information |
