The skies over Alicante are generally clear and blue, but this weekend they will be filled with kites of all shapes and sizes. The 15th annual Alicante kite festival promises to be one of the biggest yet, with exhibitions, workshops, competitions, giant kites, 'kite trains' and all manner of windy wonder. If you've got a kite, get along there and join the fun, or you can just go along and enjoy the kite sites. You can also pick up a free kite, as they are going to be giving away 3,500 of the things this weekend! The fun starts Saturday at 11:00am and continues to 1pm. There is then a 4 hour break for a well-deserved lunch and a chance to wander around the historic centre of Alicante, have a menu del día, or visit the shops. Then back to the beach for 2 more hours of kiting between 5pm and 7pm. And if you can't make it for the Saturday, the festival continues on Sunday morning between 10:30am and 1:30pm. Initial estimates are of 40,000 people watching and participating, so get there early to secure a good spot!
As ever, if you are interested in a private group trip of up to 8 people, so you can relax and let some else do the driving (and parking), call our friends at 4You Murcia. |
