La Manga Cricket Club is approaching the new season with enthusiasm, a brand new website and are looking for new faces (both Senior and Junior) to come and join their growing club. As last Season´s Costa Blanca League Champions and 20/20 Champions, La Manga Cricket Club are working in collaboration with La Manga Club, and again are being sponsored by Murcia Villas. The Club has now entered a 2nd XI into the Spanish Development League to give some of the junior players a chance to experience League Cricket alongside some new senior players. The new website, www.lamangacricketclub.com has been launched and features details of all of the coming seasons fixtures, together with details of some special events happening later in the year. The events include a 20/20 tournament in September in aid of Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research (the charity famously supported by cricket legend Sir Ian Botham), a Tournament in November backed by Mike Gatting in aid of the Lady Taverner’s charity. The Barmy Army have entered a team into both tournaments and negotiations are underway to bring their 2 figureheads, Billy Cooper the “Trumpet Player” and Vic Flower AKA “Jimmy Saville”, to add further support to the Tournaments. The first Net session of 2011 will be held at 10.30am on Sunday 27th February at La Manga Sports Ground. This will be followed by a short players´ meeting to update the membership details for the new season. Players of all standards are welcome.
