Murcia Celebrates the opening of a New Golf Resort

Lorca Golf Resort celebrated the inauguration of its brand new golf course on 11th November with the Mayor of Lorca and the General Director of Murcia Tourist Board presiding.  

The spectacular 18 hole challenge course, designed by the legendary Dave Thomas, is set in the spectacular countryside of the Sierra de Alemenara.  The two dry river beds are amongst other obstacles to challenge the golfer.  At the same time the Golf Club House, which boasts a golf shop, bar and delicatessen was opened.  Lorca is currently offering an introductory green fee for all golfers who would like to try the newly opened course.

The golf course has been sculpted into the unique landscape and Natural Park, surrounding the golf course there is an additional 60 hectares of open parkland which is owned by the Resort and is guaranteed to retain its natural beauty.  A further 200hectares is owned by the Town Hall and designated an area of outstanding natural beauty.DSC02571

The Resort has stunning views from all the fairways and holes.  At 500m above sea level it is one of the highest golf courses in the region.  The 18 hole golf course undulates in harmony with its environment and offers challenges on every hole.

Lorca is an amazing area, with pristine beaches and protected nature reserves.  Lorca is also a city with a rich cultural heritage and in addition a communications hub for the Southern Mediterranean.
